There is an anti-Islam feeling in this country which is not necessarily racist. The UK is essentially a secular society (although the C of E is still the established religion) and less and less people are religious in any form. During the 20th century discrimination against women in the UK was eroded to a large extent. Thus a religion that is discriminatory against women and insists on a certain dress code for women which not only advertises their faith but also clashes with the British attitude of freedom to dress as you wish. This contributes to the anti-Islamic attitude and is not racist but a belief that a society that is so discriminatory does not belong in our country. This is paradoxical as we also believe that we should be free to do what we want (unless it harms others).
