We took a cheap package two-week holiday to Sunny Beach. The room was strange, quite basic, the single beds were end to end with a table between them and the shower just has concrete walls and floor. The breakfasts were also quite interesting, sort of free for all. The country had only just emerged from behind the Iron Curtain so was poor and cheap for us. The resort on the Black Sea had a pleasant beach and a number of reasonable restaurants.
We took a couple of coach trips while we there, to Istanbul, where we bought a rug,
and to Sofia
and around the country, stopping in Rila monastery for a night. Many of our fellow travelers were Russian.
